On This Date in History...

  • On this date in 1821, Thomas Jennings was born. He was 30 yrs old when he became the first Black American to receive a patent for an invention. The invention was the dry-cleaning process. 
  • On this date in 1877, inventor, Garrett Morgan was born in Paris, KY but moved to Cincinnati and then to Cleveland, Oh. Among Morgan's inventions are the Morgan traffic signal, the Morgan safety hood and smoke detector, and the gas mask.
