WORD TO THE WISE #32: Risk

Good morning! Here's today's Word to the Wise.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The following statement was overheard at Junior's restaurant in Brooklyn.
"So many people are afraid of taking even the smallest chance. They cling to dull routines as if those routines are life rafts."
We go through our lives calculating risk. It may not even be a conscious accounting, because the tendency is automatic. We find comfort in what we know, and what we have; to risk it seems unwise and scary.
To be sure, weighing the risks involved in a situation is not a bad thing. Jumping into things just because they're new can become a reckless habit. But making progress necessarily entails risk.
On this day, I will remember a time I took a risk and something good came of it.
