Gospel Music Legend Bishop F.C. Barnes Transitions to "That Other Shore"

The Bishop F.C. Barnes transitioned to "that other shore" on this Monday, July 11, 2011. The 82-yr. old Barnes began singing at age 14 in Rocky Mount, NC. He belonged to several quartets before later recording his most popular song 'Rough Side of the Mountain' with Rev. Janice Brown. The album by the same name would sell over 500,000 copies and hold the #1 spot on gospel charts for over a year.

During his career, Barnes recorded 15 albums - the latest of which (Old Time Way) was nominated for a Stellar award in 2010. Barnes also sang with his son, Luther Barnes - making numerous appearances on his albums.

Our prayers are with the Barnes family, friends and fans.
